Over the summer, I had the pleasure to work at a charity event and was impressed at how many Binghamton High School students had volunteered too. One student told me, it's just how they are.

How they are, is generous! For the 19th year, Binghamton High School is hosting the annual community Thanksgiving dinner. It's Thursday from 11:30 am to 2 pm in both school cafeterias.

This is no small task. BHS staff and students not only plan and fund raise for this dinner, but prepare it and set up the cafeterias. They then serve the dinner to thousands of area residents.

To make sure everything is covered, the school is working with First Student for shuttle-bus options with plans to set pick-up and drop-off points at convenient locations around the city.

Shuttle #1 will begin picking up passengers at 11 a.m. at Franklin Elementary School on Conklin Avenue and at 11 :15 a.m. at North Shore Towers on Isabell Street.

Shuttle #2 will begin picking up passengers at 11 a.m. at the Greater Binghamton Transportation Center on Chenango Street downtown and at 11:15 a.m. at the First Ward Senior Citizen Center on Clinton Street.

The round-trip runs will continue until 1:30 p.m. when the buses then will leave the high school for returns only.

Kudos to the students who are well ahead of the charity work curve. I believe they taught me something here.
