I'm proud to say I've been a part of 99.1 The Whale for more than 30 years, honored to entertain you with the best music on the planet, and putting up with my ramblings.

One of the many things that I look forward to every year, is presenting you with our Thanksgiving tradition - airing the entire version of Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant Massacree. We've done this for almost as long as I've been here, and we will continue as long as you and the Whale Nation request it.

A bit of history on the song - Alice's Restaurant came out in 1967 off Arlo Guthrie's 'Alice's Restaurant' album. Heo wrote the song based on one of his life's experiences that happened in 1965 on Thanksgiving Day.

Alice in the song is Alice M. Brock from Massachusetts. She did own a restaurant, but the Thanksgiving dinners mentioned in the song were actually held in a converted church that Alice and her husband had purchased before they owned the restaurant.

On Thanksgiving Day, we know you've got a lot going on, so that's why we are airing this classic three times - around 7:15am, 12:15pm and 6:15pm.

It's our Whale Family Thanksgiving tradition to you. Happy Thanksgiving!
