WETM is reporting that Woodstock 50 will be August 16th through the 18th in Watkins Glen, New York.

We are guessing it will be held at Watkins Glen International Speedway, but that was not confirmed in the news story. But where else in Watkins Glen would you be able to hold such a huge event?

Even though no official lineup has been released, according to WETM, the promoter has told Rolling Stone that 40 musicians have been booked.

Michael Lang was one of the co-founders of the original Woodstock Festival that took place in Bethel Woods New York in August of 1969. And even though Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is planning on doing some kind of 50th-anniversary celebration, Lang said the original Woodstock site does not have the capacity to host what he is planning for this summer.

One band that was at the original Woodstock that will probably not be performing at Woodstock 50 is The Who. Rodger Daltrey just said the other day that you cannot recreate the 1969 festival and that at this time he has no interest in being a part such an event. I think it would be awesome if Lang can book most of the living artists that played the original festival, bands that were around in 1969 but didn't play the festival such as The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr just to name a few, and also feature a bunch of bands that have surfaced over the last 50 years.

I just hope Lang works with the organizers at Bethel Woods while they plan both events. It would suck if they were both held on the same weekend. We will keep you posted on what bands will be playing at Watkins Glen as well as Bethel Woods soon as we find out.
