Cortland County Sheriff's officials say 19-year-old Zamir Matthews is charged with resisting arrest, criminal impersonation and obstructing governmental administration in the incident on December 31 that started as a traffic stop.

Deputies say Matthews was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped on Pendleton Street in Cortlandville at 10:07 p.m. New Year's Eve when he allegedly gave false information about his identity and tried to run away.

He was sent to the Cortland County Jail and ordered to appear in court at a later date.
