We love to take our dogs for walks, but have never taken them to a dog park. There are a couple dog parks in our area, and there could be another one coming to Otsiningo Park in Binghamton.

As long as I can remember, my family has always had a pet or pets. Not long after I got married in the 1980s, my wife and I adopted a mixed breed dog, and he gave us 14 great years of companionship. Since then, we've adopted several Greyhounds through Greyhound adoption agencies in New York State and Pennsylvania, along with Lance, who is kind of a cross between an Italian Greyhound and a Whippet, and they all love to have a space to run and play.

According to the Otsiningo Park Facebook page, Otsiningo North Dog Park is one of 30 communities nationwide in the running for the 2021 PetSafe Bark for Your Park grant. 10 of the 30 communities with the most votes will each receive a share of a $150,000 dollar grant from PetSafe 'Bark For Your Park' grant program.

The PetSafe news release states that "Five communities with the highest votes will receive $25,000 for the construction of a new park and five will be awarded $5,000 to enhance their local dog parks." The Otsiningo NorthDog Park is listed in the new park category. Take a look at the artist renderings of the proposed park on the Otsiningo Park facebook page. It looks awesome.

You can do your part in helping the Otsiningo North Dog Park win one of the grants by voting now through August 31st. You can vote once per day through the Bark For Your Park website.
