I remember as a kid seeing strange bright green lights in the sky and I wasn't sure what they were, so ask my father, he looked at them and he said that they were the Northern Lights. I was amazed.

I think I've only seen the Northern Lights two or three times in my entire life. As a matter of fact, Chris and I are going to Alaska in September on a cruise, and that's one thing I'm looking forward to the most.

But today I found an article on Insider that said New York might actually get to see the Northern Lights this weekend because of a geomagnetic storm and a small solar flare that struck earlier this week. I'm not sure what that means, but I don't care as long as I can see the Northern Lights.

Meteorologist Joe Charlevoix was quoted by Insider as saying,

"it's not a guarantee, but conditions are favorable"

that New York will see the Nothern Lights this weekend.

Obviously, if you are in a dark area, away from street lights, you will have a better view of the Northern Lights if we see them at all.

So if you are outside in the dark at any point this weekend, look up to see if you can see them, because you never know when the next opportunity will come your way.
