Some flooding is possible in parts of the Twin Tiers as rain continues to fall across the region.

National Weather Service forecasters say the flood watch for central New York and northeast Pennsylvania that took on Sunday has been extended. It now is to run through 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Steady rain will continue and intensify during the day Monday. The rain will be heavy at times.

Many sections of the Twin Tiers can expect one to three inches of rain. Locally higher amounts will be possible.

The moderate to heavy rain will result in rising waters and a threat of flooding, especially along small creeks and streams.

Forecasters say there will be a potential for localized flash flooding Monday afternoon and evening within thunderstorms.

There will continue to be a chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday through Thursday.
