Television shows. movies, music videos and songs that mention large cities around the world probably don't mean much, if anything to those who live in those cities. But for small cities and towns, it is a big deal.

Binghamton has been mentioned, featured and been filmed many times through television shows, movies and music videos.

IMDB lists many filming locations in or around Binghamton. Some I remember, and some I had no idea. Here's five that I was aware of.

The movie 'The Rewrite' is a comedy directed and written by Martin Lawrence, and starred a great cast of Hugh Grant, Marisa Tomei. Chris Elliott, Allison Janney and JK Simmons. It came out in 2014. I have not seen it, and frankly forgot about it. Now, I need to find the movie and watch it since I'm a fan of all the main characters.

Do you remember 'Liebestraum?' It came out in 1991, and I had my doubts about the movie when it was about to be released, but have to say, I enjoyed watching the movie.

As for music videos, Taylor Swift's 'Back To December' which came out in 2011, featured scenes from MacArthur Park in Binghamton. The song did okay on the national charts but didn't crack the top 40.

'Extremities' was a movie starring Farrah Fawcett and James Russo, released in 1986. IDMB describes the movie as "a woman takes revenge on the man who invades her home and tries to rape her."

Then there's one of my favorite television sitcoms of all time, The Office. In the episode 'Turf War,' it was announced that the Binghamton Dunder Mifflin office had been closed. A salesperson from the Dunder Mifflin Syracuse branch visits the Scranton branch to warn their salespeople not to steal any of the Binghamton clients, since the branch was in New York State and that would be off limits for a branch from out of state.
