Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say the driver of a box truck involved in a crash with a snow plow that closed a portion of Interstate 81 South near Homer January 6 is being ticketed for following too closely.

Authorities say 28-year-old Oscar Osnay Zambrana Reynoso rear-ended the Department of Transportation Plow and had to be extricated from his vehicle by firefighters. 

The crash happened shortly at 6:10 a.m. and forced traffic to detour off the southbound interstate for two hours between Exit 13 in the Town of Preble and Exit 12 in the Town of Homer.

Zambrana Reynoso suffered a leg injury and was transported by ambulance to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. The D.O.T. worker was not hurt.

In addition to following too closely, Zambrana Reynoso was ticketed for failure to use designated lane and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
