Trial Delay for Glen Aubrey Man Accused of Hitting Trooper With Car

A Glen Aubrey man accused of trying to kill two New York State Troopers following a pursuit in Binghamton January 2^nd will wait a little longer for a day in court after being granted a request for a new lawyer.

36 year old James Giacalone was shot in the face after allegedly hitting a trooper with his car on Conklin Avenue as authorities chased him through the South Side. The chase started when Giacalone allegedly refused to pull over for an officer who said he recognized the driver as a subject wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Giacalone is charged with felony counts of attempted first degree murder and attempted aggravated assault on a police officer.

The trooper was treated for minor injuries while Giacalone spent about a week in the Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania before being released and returned to Broome County.

The trial was supposed to start on the 18^th but it was found that a witness for the prosecution had done business with the public defender assigned Giacolone’s case.

A new trial date will be set after the defendant meets with a new defense lawyer.
