Tourism has made a major economic impact on Broome County over the past year according to information released from Visit Binghamton, the official Tourism Promotion Agency for Broome County. Overall in New York State the tourism industry set new records for total visitation, economic impact and direct spending in 2018. Visitors to New York State generated an all-time high of $71.8 billion in direct spending.  In 2018 close to 253 million people visited New York State and the revenue impact  of tourism was $114.8 billion.

In information pertaining to Broome County Visit Binghamton reports that tourism created $510,344,000 in revenue.

This includes visitor spending, labor income and taxes.  Traveler Spending totaled $311,840,000 for Broome County.  This amount was 3.6 percent higher than last year,

Tourism generated $37,517,081 in State and Local Taxes in 2018.  This represents a 1.98 percent increase from 2017.
