Tioga County is reporting its first death from the coronavirus.

April 15, Legislative Chairwoman Martha Sauerbrey reported Tioga County Public Health confirmed that the person died on Tuesday.  Their age, gender, length of illness and whether there were underlying conditions would not be released.

As of April 15, there were 36 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tioga County, an increase of five from the previous report.

Broome County reports 15 new cases bringing the total to 159.  There have been eight deaths.  According to numbers provided by the New York Governor’s office, Chenango county recorded 3 new cases with a total of 68, Cortland County one new case with a total of 23, Delaware County at 58 positive cases, an increase of three.

Governor Andrew Cuomo, meanwhile, April 15 said the number of hospital admissions had dipped, opening the door for hope that the state had not only reached a plateau but may be looking at the start of a downward curve.
