Tim Tebow's early stay at Triple-A Syracuse has proven much more difficult than last season's stint here in Double-A Binghamton. Heading into Saturday's action the former college football and NFL standout's batting average was .137.  He has 10 hits in 73 at bats.  More alarmingly is 29 strikeouts in those 73 at bats.  He has hit three doubles with no triples and no home runs in 22 games with Syracuse.  Tebow has primarily started in left field with the Triple-A Mets.

It far different than the numbers he ended up with in Binghamton last season.  Fans may recall his dramatic opening night home run at NYSEG Stadium on the first pitch of his first at bat at the Double-A level.

Tebow had made considerable progress last season.  He had his season ended prematurely last year after suffering a broken bone in his hand.  He ended up batting .273 with six home runs in 84 games played.  Strikeouts were a problem in Binghamton as well. Tebow struck out 103 times in 271 at bats with the Rumble Ponies. There was plenty of speculation that he was playing well enough to get a call-up in September but the injury erased that hope.
