Binghamton police are investigating a collision involving a car and truck that reportedly left three people injured.

The crash happened around 7:50 p.m. Saturday near the Red Oak Diner at 305 Front Street.

A southbound Saturn Ion appeared to have slammed head-on into a northbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

Three ambulances were sent to the scene to transport the occupants of the car to hospitals.

Police could not provide information about the conditions of those who were hurt or the nature of their injuries.

A Binghamton man who had been driving the truck said the car veered into his lane, resulting in the collision. He said he was not injured.

Debris from the damaged vehicles was strewn about the roadway and into the restaurant parking lot.

Front Street was closed between Prospect Street and Karlada Drive for the crash investigation.
