Groundhog Day has always been a silly day of fun where a group of people pull the little critter out of a cage or housing and determine if it can see his shadow, the prediction is based on sky conditions, if it’s sunny he’ll cast a shadow, overcast you get nothing, mixed clouds and sun depends on when you yank him out into the open.

The myth that groundhogs can predict the coming of spring is a legend that dates back centuries when they used hedgehogs, when the Germans settled in Pennsylvania they quickly found that groundhogs most resembled the hedgehogs and also deemed them intelligent creatures wise enough to know if it saw its shadow it would hurry back into its home and wait 6 weeks for spring to come. (Like I said, a silly fun day)

6 weeks of winter? Or an early spring? It will get here when it gets here and no furry little varmint is going to figure that one out.

Either way I can't wait for it to get here because this has been a mighty cold winter.
