The 48th annual Central New York Maple Festival will take place this Saturday and Sunday in Marathon, New York. I've been to the Maple Festival a handful of times over the years and it's great family fun. Of course, you can sample the freshest maple syrup you'll ever have in your life and you can have that maple syrup on top of fresh pancakes. You can show your kids how maple syrup is made. That's just some of the things you can enjoy. You can watch the pancake eating contest (or participate in one against your friends), you can see the chainsaw carvers live in person, and there is a ton of food as well including maple bacon. Mmmm, maple bacon.

If you are a runner you can participate in the maple run which benefits the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. There will also be carnival rides, helicopter rides, and airboat rides. The Maple Fest website states that there will be over 70 craft vendors on site all weekend long. Every time we have gone we had to get some of the fresh roasted peanuts that they roast right there at the event.

So if you're looking for something to do this weekend check out the Maple Festival in Marathon. The festival runs from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday, and Sunday from 9 am till 4 pm. Admission is free and there is free parking at the school. They will shuttle you down from there. You can find more information on the Maple Fest website.
