I know this blog won’t change the outcome of the Cowboys – Lions NFC Wildcard game on Sunday. The Detroit Lions choked and lost the game when they had a chance to win in the final few minutes. However, with that said, I have never seen a more blatant missed penalty in my over 30 years as a football fan.

The Lions had the ball and were driving into Dallas territory with a 20-17 lead, when Detroit QB, Matt Stafford, threw a pass to Tight End, Brandon Pettigrew. Dallas LB, Anthony Hitchens, grabbed and shoved Pettigrew while his back was to the ball and was flagged for interference.

Dallas fans saw it, Lions fans saw it, hell even spectators who hated both teams saw it and the officials announced it to the stadium and the freaking free world.
Let me spell it out for you, I-N-T-E-R-F-E-R-E-N-C-E.

Then the officials picked up the flag as to say, huh, just kidding!

I had heard that during the playoffs they put officials together that don’t normally work together and lack chemistry, so how is that fair to teams that lose on miscommunications between officials?

I think if the NFL has learned one thing its chemistry between officials should be crucial in post season play, I’m not a Lions fan but these teams play their heart out all season for an opportunity that may only come once in lifetime.

Very unfair and inexcusable, I feel bad for the Detroit Lions and their fans. As for the officials, shame on you.
