Democrat challenger Anthony Brindisi reportedly has added to his vote lead over Republican incumbent Claudia Tenney in New York's 22nd Congressional District.

According to syracuse.com, as of Thursday afternoon, Brindisi had a 1,500 vote advantage over Tenney after all of the absentee and affidavit ballots in Cortland County had been counted.

Brindisi previously had been reported to have had a 1,293 edge in the district, which covers portions of eight counties.

Brindisi, a state assemblyman, has been leading Tenney since the final unofficial voting machine results were announced on election night last week. He initially was ahead by 1,422 votes but his advantage was reduced after the votes from one machine in northern Broome County were counted.

Brindisi declared victory on election night more than a week ago. Tenney had said she considered the race too close to call.

Brindisi has expressed confidence that he ultimately will be declared the winner. He said his moving forward in his plans to take office in January.
