Over the past few years strict laws to crack down on people who text while driving are being enforced throughout our country.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has stepped up patrols to send the message about the consequences of distractions while driving.

New York State’s  ‘Operation Hang Up’ is going on right now through next Tuesday with fines that start at a minimum fine of $50 and a maximum fine of $150, a second offensive could cost you up to $200.

The point is driving is serious business, and not paying attention to the rules of the road can not only cost a person their live, but innocent people as well.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in 2012, 3,328 people nationwide were killed in crashes involving a distracted driver, and 421,000 were injured.
