A 17-year-old boy has been accused of shooting another teenager near a Binghamton school.

Authorities say the suspect was found in an apartment building at 80 Conklin Avenue, a short distance from the shooting scene.

City police say a 19-year-old man was shot near the corner of Conklin Avenue and Livingston Street around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The man, who sustained an arm wound, reportedly was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. His name and condition were not released.

Police executed a search warrant in an apartment in the Conklin Avenue building. They say a .45 caliber handgun was found.

Investigators say the suspect was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

The nearby St. John the Evangelist School was locked down for a short time following the shooting.
