Broome County has a new text alert program to try to combat overdoses.

Mini-grants with $40,000 in funding is going to the Addiction Center of Broome County and Truth Pharm to work on opioid overdose prevention efforts.

An alert was sent to the media shortly after 4 p.m. March 6 announcing "reports of increased overdoses during the past 24 hours."

It's the worst nightmare of every parent - to lose their child to an overdose and sadly, many parents in our community have recently faced this reality.
