The New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association says it is "outraged" a man indicted on charges he tried to kill a trooper has been set free on bail.
Scott Mawhiney pleaded not guilty to a nine-count indictment in Broome County Court in connection with the shooting of Trooper Ryan Thorp in Deposit in June.
Two New York State Police troopers have experienced some complications since they were wounded in two separate shooting incidents in Broome County this month.
