According to a survey released by the American Heart Association and Aramark American workers who eat on the job often struggle to eat healthy foods.  The online survey involved 907 participants who are employed United States workers who are 18 or over who usually eat lunch during working hours.

Results from the survey can help to develop ways to improve dietary intake .  Aramark has launched a mission to boost nutrition values on menus in colleges, universities, hospital dining rooms and workplace locations.

According to information from the American Heart Association regarding those adults surveyed who usually eat lunch during work hours:

On a stressful day at work 35 percent say the lunch they eat is less healthy than a typical day away from work.  When eating an unhealthy lunch employees under 40 years of age are more likely to be impacted by the cost of healthier food.

82 percent of those surveyed agreed that having healthy food options at work was important and valued assistance from their employer in staying healthy or improving their health.
