Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler was rushed to hospital after stabbing himself at his Los Angeles home, TMZ has reported.

The incident is said to have taken place on the evening of June 27. “Law enforcement sources tell TMZ someone at Adler’s L.A. home called 911 shortly after 6:30 Thursday night to report someone had stabbed themselves,” the story read. “We’re told when cops and paramedics arrived, they discovered it was Adler who had suffered a stab wound to his stomach.”

According to TMZ, a representative for Adler said his injury was caused by an accident, not a suicide attempt, and that it resulted in a "very minor, superficial wound." They didn't offer an explanation about the nature of the accident, but stated that Adler has maintained his sobriety for several years and still plans to to play a scheduled show on July 12 in Las Vegas.

The injury was reported to be “non-life threatening” and no one else was suspected to have been involved. While Adler’s social media channels filled with messages of support from followers, no official statement had been released at time of writing.

While Adler, 54 – birth name Michael Coletti – is not part of the Guns N’ Roses reunion lineup featuring Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan, he's made a handful of brief guest appearances during their Not In This Lifetime world tour.

“[W]e were a magic band, like Led Zeppelin, or Aerosmith or Queen,” he said in 2018. “Once we were together we couldn’t do anything wrong. If one person left the band and did Appetite [For Destruction], Appetite would not be Appetite. And it’s a shame because Use Your Illusion when we did the demo tape, I kept saying, or we kept saying, it was gonna be bigger and better than Appetite but once they kicked me out of the band, part of the magic was gone. It’s a different band. A completely different band.” He added: “You know, if they want me, they know my number – I’m ready to rock.”
