State Police Charge Endwell Man with Arson in House Fire
A town of Union man has been accused of setting a fire that damaged a residence.
Authorities say 32-year-old James Kvassay faces a felony charge of third-degree arson in connection with a blaze at a house on Foster Street in Endwell.
According to New York State Police, Kvassay was arrested around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, just minutes after the fire had been reported.
Investigators believe Kvassay set the blaze. There were no reports of injuries as a result of the fire.
Kvassay was transported to Broome County's central arraignment and processing facility.
Endwell firefighters were assisted by units from Endicott and West Corners.
State police were assisted by Broome County and state fire investigators. Broome County sheriff's deputies, the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad and Superior Ambulance also responded to the fire scene.
