Spac First in Upstate N.Y. and Top 20 in the World for Attendance
The Saratoga Performing Arts Center, also known as SPAC, is located in Saratoga Springs New York. It can hold as many as 25,100 people for a concert.
Every year during the summer, SPAC hosts concerts featuring all types of music. From Rock to Country to Rap and everything in between.
Pollstar has just released their year-end worldwide ticket sales list of the top 100 Amphitheater venues in the world during 2018. SPAC finished 17th. on that list with 311,729 people paying to go through their turnstiles. SPAC also finished first in upstate New York.
Other outdoor amphitheaters from upstate New York that made the top 100 in the world included The Darien Lake Performing Arts Center at number 28, The St. Joseph's Health Amphitheater at Lakeview in Syracuse at number 34, and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the site of the original 1969 Woodstock, finished at number 69 ironically.
The amphitheater that finished first in ticket sales worldwide was the Ruff Home Mortgage Music Center in Noblesville Indiana with almost 600,000 people attending concerts there in 2018. Finishing second on the list was BB&T Pavilion in Camden New Jersey with just over half a million people. See the full list here.
According to Pollstar, the busiest concert venues in New York State in 2018 were the two arenas in New York City. Madison Square Garden hosted the most concertgoers with over 1.16 million fans. Meanwhile, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn hosted over 800,000 music fans.
