The Northeast Bradford School District in Rome, Pennsylvania, said all students were being dismissed at 1 p.m. Monday (May 16).

An employee in the school district office would say only the early dismissal was due to an "emergency." Although she would not provide details about the situation, she said everyone was safe.

According to the school district website, the Northeast Bradford High School had been evacuated. The statement indicated high school students had been sent to the elementary school.

According to the statement, the fire department was "on site investigating smoke in the basement of the high school." The statement said: "All students and personnel are accounted for."

Despite the early dismissal, the school district indicated that baseball and softball team travel would go on as planned.
