New York State is attempting to decide whether to allow hydraulic fracturing to get to natural gas trapped in the Marcellus Shale. Pennsylvania jumped in with both feet, which created problems, so New York is taking its time.

And with the wait comes the protests. Pro and con. What annoys me is when celebrities get involved. Yes, Yoko Ono is certainly rightfully in it since she owns land in a possible "fracking" area. But Scarlett Johansson? No land here. Mark Ruffalo? Ditto! Oh, and are they using renewable energy? Nope!

From what I understand, they don't even really know the science behind this whole debate. To be honest, we haven't been told all the science! Like this gem: using natural gas instead of coal reduces air pollution.

I think only those directly affected have the right to voice their concerns or beliefs. Otherwise it is a media circus. What do you think?
