Additional security measures were visible for the annual St. Patrick's Parade in downtown Binghamton.

Broome County provided BC Transit buses as blocker vehicles to provide enhanced protection for the parade. One bus was parked across State Street near the MetroCenter parking lot.

Regular police patrol vehicles were used to block some downtown intersections along the parade route.

There appeared to be more "blocker vehicles" utilized in Saturday afternoon's parade compared to previous years.

The intersection at Fayette Street where parade participants turned to proceed west on Court Street did not have a big blocker vehicle. Standard barricades were used to control traffic further east of the intersection.

One Binghamton police officer, believed to be a SWAT team member, was seen dressed in camouflage unloading an equipment case from a marked patrol car before the parade began.

New York State Police assisted Binghamton officers in securing the parade route from Henry Street to Court and Main streets.

City officials had not announced any specific concerns about security for the parade. They did not announced how many law enforcement officers were deployed for the event.
