The news is less than marvelous for Scott's Family Resort in Broome County as its owners have announced the place won't be operating this year.

The Oquaga Lake property in the town of Sanford, 30 miles east of Binghamton, has been a destination for folks who want to relax for more than a century.

Scenes for the Amazon TV show "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" were shot at Scott's Oquaga Lake House in June 2018. It was called the Steiner Mountain Resort on the program.

A Facebook post cited "circumstances beyond our control" in announcing the resort will not open for the 2020 season.

Despite the Facebook message, there's no indication on the Scott's Family Resort website that it won't be available for events this year.

Patricia and Gary Holdrege have operated the business over the past few years. They could not be reached but a family member Wednesday confirmed that the business will not be opening this spring.

Visitors to Scott's Family Resort have been concerned in recent years as reports circulated the place might close.

Woodland Creek Real Estate of Hancock has a listing for the property on its website with an asking price of $6 million.

This story was updated to include the real estate listing indicating the property is being offered for sale.
