I love to eat in restaurants.
Partly because I don't cook, but mostly because I love being waited on (call that laziness.)

I believe in total respect for whoever waits on me, and all who work in restaurants.
While not all are the best at what they do as is true in any workplace, restaurant workers from what I have observed, work their butts off for I'm sure not much money.
That being said, I make sure to be kind to them, and tip as generously as I can afford (no, we are not highly paid in the radio business either - we're DJs, not movie stars) to show my appreciation.

I was at a restaurant recently in the Elmira area, and my waitress really impressed me.
She had a great attitude, seemed to like what she was doing, was very helpful, interested in my conversations, put up with my rudeness when I took a call on the phone (I realize that's a no-no), checked up on me several times, and even re-filled my soda without asking ( I love that!)
She treated me with respect and I appreciate that.
A totally enjoyable experience!

Of course, these hard-working waiters and waitresses don't always get respect from diners they deserve.
Most times, at least what I have observed, things that go wrong are not the fault of the waiter, and even if they are, a bit of adult conversation should prevail, not yelling and screaming, and making the person feel like they are a failure.
That's just childish mentality.
So, for those of you hard-working restaurant personnel, I thank you and respect your hard work.
Here's an article from Buzzfeed.com called '21 Things Waiters Dread' that I think you'll enjoy checking out.
