While the final winner for Broome County District Attorney hinges on paper ballots to be counted later this month, Republicans are celebrating a number of wins in other contests, releasing a statement overnight calling it "a solid night for Republicans in Broome County."

Of particular note, the GOP will have the first Republican Mayor in the Village of Endicott in over ten years.

The unofficial results for New York State Supreme Court Justice for the 6th district puts Republicans on the bench with the three top vote-getters Mark Masler, Chris Baker and Oliver Blaise III.

In municipal races:

For the contested seats on Binghamton City Council the unofficial winners are Republican Sophia Resciniti in District 2, Democrat Angela Riley District 3, Democrat and Working Parties candidate Aviva Friedman District 4, Democrat Joe Burns District 5, Republican Philip Strawn District 6, Republican Thomas Scanlan District 7.

Vestal Town Supervisor, Democrat John Schaffer has defeated Republican Fran Majewski 3,568 to 2,604. Town Council members are Democrat Patty Fitzgerald and Republican Jason Ellis.

The Johnson City Village Board is firmly in Republican hands with the two seats won by Clark Giblin and John Walker.  The Democrat, Christopher Waters trailed by 288 votes.

In the three-way race for Mayor or Endicott, Republican/Conservative, Linda Jackson defeated Democrat Cheryl Chapman and Working Families/ Libertarian Larry Coppola.  Trustees are Democrat Eileen Konecny and Republican R.Ted Warner.

In Tioga County, Sheriff Gary Howard wins another term. The Republican handily defeated Libertarian Joseph Breitwieser by 4,831 votes.

In Chenango County, Republican Shawn Sastri has defeated Conservative Christine Carnrike and Norwich Pride candidate Jospeh Mairuano for Mayor.

One proposition on the ballot in Broome County was for funding the George F. Johnson and Your Home Libraries in the Town of Union.  That proposal passed 6,846 to 3,630.
