Raptors and More: Waterman Season Preview on Southern Tier Close Up

The Water Conservation and Education Center in Apalachin is set for the Spring and Summer with a variety of events and the celebration of the opening of a new location in Broome County.

Executive Director Chris Audette is the guest this week on the local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up and talks about the start of the season with a presentation on Raptors May 11 as well as other events involving guided nature walks, bird photography and an introduction to the Pettis Hill Preserve in Windsor.

Audette says people interested in the Raptor Project on May 11 at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. need to reserve space in advance by calling (607) 625-2221 or on the Waterman Facebook site.

Audette also recounts his memories of arriving at the main center on Hilton Road in Apalachin for his interview for the director position and being greeted by a clamor of crows.

The Waterman Center is preparing for its usual camp programs through the Owego Apalachin School District as well as the more in-depth camp programs for the general public that will be taking place in the upcoming weeks.
