Quiet Riot Announce Release Date for Re-Recorded ‘Road Rage’ LP
Quiet Riot have settled on a release date for their new Road Rage LP — and it looks like this time it's going to stick.
As previously reported, the record was initially set to arrive in April, but those plans were thrown into disarray after the group parted ways with singer Seann Nicols. After replacing Nicols with American Idol vet James Durbin, they opted to re-record the album, with Durbin adding new melodies and lyrics to the songs.
The new and presumably final version of Road Rage is now set to arrive Aug. 4, the end result of what Durbin's called a three-week "marathon" of writing and recording fresh material for the LP.
"The crown jewel, on top of joining one of your favorite bands, has to be writing, recording and releasing a new album," he enthused in a press release announcing the new release date. "No matter what, you are now a part of that band's history and I'm honored to have had the opportunity to do that with Quiet Riot."
For drummer and bandleader Frankie Banali, Durbin's involvement connects the current iteration of the group in spirit to Quiet Riot's multi-platinum era with singer Kevin DuBrow. "While no one can ever replace Kevin DuBrow, he has the same spirit and drive that Kevin had," added Banali. "James is an amazing live performer with insane vocal range, but he is also a very gifted songwriter and brought to the Road Rage record totally unique, original lyrics and melodies. Not only do they fit perfectly to the music we wrote, but took the songs to a completely new level."
