1973 again? How is it that the year I graduated high school, so much amazing music cam on the scene? Well. I certainly was not complaining.

One gem that was produced in 1973, was The Who's 'Quadrophenia' album. This was the second time the guys in the band had put together a rock opera. The first being 'Tommy' which came out in 1969.

Pete Townshend was the mastermind and composer for the concept. While I love all the songs on this double album, the ones that got the most airplay include Love, Reign 'er Me, I Am The Sea, 5:15, The Real Me and the title track. As for chart success, 'Quadrophenia' reached as high as the number 2 spot on the U.S. and U.K, album charts.

In 1979 the  album was turned into a film, which became successful. I think I still have it buried somewhere on a VHS tape. For this week's Classic Rock Pick, let's relive a small portion of the 'Quadrophenia' rock opera with this video of The Who performing the title track just a few years ago in London - a great modern take on the song.
