Pulsipher and Isringhausen Enter Binghamton Baseball Shrine

Two of Binghamton's greatest all-time pitchers were inducted into the Binghamton Baseball Shrine before Saturday night's Rumble Ponies versus Hartford Yard Goats game at NYSEG Stadium.  Bill Pulsipher and Jason Isringhausen, two key pitchers in Binghamton's 1994 championship season, returned to NYSEG Stadium for the pregame ceremonies.

Pulsipher went 14-8 as a starting pitcher in 1994 and was named an Eastern League All-Star.  He is remembered for tossing a no-hitter against the Harrisburg Senators in Harrisburg in the Eastern League Championship Series.  He went on to pitch for the New York Mets and four other Major League teams.

Isringhausen began his career as a starting pitcher and played parts of two seasons in Binghamton.  He went 5-4 in Binghamton in 1994 and 2-1 in 1995.  He spent all or parts of five seasons with New York.  His biggest break may have been in 1999 when he was dealt to the Oakland Athletics where pitching coach Dave Duncan transformed him from a starting pitcher to a closer where he turned into a star.

From 2002 through 2008 Isringhausen pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals where he was one of the game's best closers.

He earned 217 of his 300 Major League saves as a Cardinal and led the National League in saves in 2004.  A two-time All-Star Isringhausen was inducted into the St. Louis Cardinals' Hall of Fame one week prior to his Binghamton induction.  He remains active in the game working with the St. Louis Cardinals and their young pitchers.
