A public hearing is being held August 15 to talk about New York State Electric and Gas' request for and gas and electric rate increase next April.

The public information and comment session will be held in the Binghamton City Council Chambers staring at 6 p.m. The doors will open at 5 p.m.

Residents, businesses and local officials will be able to tell the Public Service Commission about their experiences with NYSEG ranging from customer services to efforts to move toward more renewable energy or conservation and cost-saving measures.

NYSEG is proposal an electric rate increase of 24% according to a news release from the Broome County Executive’s office.

Comment can also be submitted by going online www.dps.ny.gov click on search and enter case number 19-E-0378.

Comments are also accepted by emailing secretary@dps.ny.gov.  Comments called into the toll free opinion line at 1-800-335-2120 are not transcribed but a summary is provided to the PSC and the Administrative Law Judge.
