Police: Man Killed Wife Before Fatally Shooting Himself

Authorities say two Delaware County residents are dead in the aftermath of a murder-suicide.

According to New York State Police, a man and a woman were found dead in a home on Route 10 in the town of Stamford around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators say the discovery was made in the residence of 52-year-old Lisa German.

Police believe 57-year-old Christopher German of South Kortright fatally shot his estranged wife before turning the gun on himself.

The man's employer became concerned and called authorities after he failed to show up for work Tuesday.

Police say a .38 caliber revolver was found in the home. They say the scene was "determined to be consistent with a murder-suicide."

State police were not aware of any previous domestic incidents involving the couple. They are survived by three children who are being cared for by relatives.
