Part of Old Binghamton Pepsi Plant Torn Down for New Business
Demolition crews have removed a section of the former Pepsi-Cola warehouse facility on Binghamton's East Side.
Workers from LCP Group of Vestal tore down a small portion of the complex at Court Street and Broad Avenue.
The property was acquired by the Clarks Summit-based company that operates Big E Tire and Auto Service last October. The property is directly across the street from an existing Big E service center.
The company's Ray Bartolai said the firm's commercial tire operation will be moved to the Binghamton site from its current location on Upper Front Street in the town of Chenango. He said the available retail space will be expanded at the Front Street site.
Bartolai said the company plans to use about 15,000 square feet at the former Pepsi site in Binghamton. He said another business is expected to utilize the remaining space at the former beverage distribution facility.
Bartolai said the Big E Tire Service operation on Court Street will service trucks. He said it likely will open in July.
