WENY T-V reports Elmira police, Owego Police, Ithaca Police and the Tioga County Sheriff’s officials followed up on information regarding the suspect’s car and arrested 38-year-old Ryan Benjamin in Ithaca.

The 14-year-old girl managed to run away from her alleged would-be abductor who told her he had a knife and threatened to harm her.  She fled to a nearby drugstore for help and authorities were able to obtain surveillance film of a light-colored sedan with front-end damage.

The car was located yesterday morning parked behind a business on Elmira Road in Ithaca and Benjamin was arrested when he returned to the car.

He’s charged with attempted kidnapping and was sent to the Chemung County Jail on $100,000 bail.
