Now That Summer Is Here, Let’s Talk Vacations
Summer arrived at 6:07 this morning. Summer is the time of year where most people take their vacation time and head out of town or just stay home for a stay-cation. My wife Chris and I have a timeshare in Myrtle Beach and even though we get to use it every year, we usually end up going there every other year. This year we will be heading down in late August. We love going there because we both love to golf and Myrtle Beach has a ton of golf courses. There is so much to do there besides golf. We usually end up spending at least one day at the beach, we visit restaurants and other attractions just about every day, and every year we have our miniature golf tournament. We play a different course every day, sometimes more than one, and whoever wins the most rounds during the week, has bragging rights until the next year. The miniature golf courses in Myrtle Beach would blow your mind. From mini golf courses with dragons that spit fire to full animatronic dinosaurs, to miniature golf courses with pirate ships that shoot cannon balls. There are dozens and dozens of mini golf courses that were probably a million dollars or more to build. We love the area so much, that eventually, we may even end up moving down there. Maybe not right in Myrtle Beach, but somewhere nearby like Murrells Inlet.
I will also be using vacation time around the Dick's Sporting Goods Open. Chris and I both volunteer at that event and sometimes have people stay at our house during the week-long PGA Tour stop. We live within walking distance of En-Joie so we have people over our house every day of the week. Chris heads up the Walking Scores Team. They are the people that walk with the players inside the ropes and keep track of every shot they take. I also volunteer as a walking scorer. I also volunteer for the Transportation Team of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open. I'm there every year to help bring the rental cars down from the airport for the players to use while they are in the Binghamton Area.
After these two vacations, I will still have some time left, and I'm thinking I will use those for day trips around New York State. Maybe head up to Lake George or Lake Placid for a long weekend. What are your plans for vacation this summer?
