News of the Weird Runner Up: What Lives In our Belly Buttons

A part of me has one word for this: gross! Another wonders why it took so long.

Researchers at North Carolina State University decided to study what is in our belly buttons. They used 60 people for the study and found nearly 2,400 bacteria species. Holy cow! Here's the creepy part. Over half are newly discovered bacteria.

Over half. makes you think about cleaning the old belly button more thoroughly, huh?

The weirdest thing they found with the results was a bacteria native to Japanese soil. But the person had never been anywhere near Japan.
