New York Taps EMTs, Dentists and Students to Give COVID Shots
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is calling for Licensed Practical Nurses, Pharmacists, Dentists, Emergency Medical Technicians and even some eligible students to be allowed to administer COVID-19 vaccines at new distribution sites.
The Governor’s Executive Order signed over the weekend looks to more quickly get vaccines out to residents in newly expanded eligible groups that includes residents over the age of 75.
The Department of Health is setting up 20 mass distribution sites through the state for administering the vaccine, many of those are already ready to give the shots in New York City 24-hours-a-day.
The State is opening a site at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City on January 13.
