Sure, I see the date. The summer of 2022 is now history. For me, it was a great summer, and the weather was almost perfect in my opinion. Summer is my favorite season. The rest, well, I tolerate them as best.

But, at least the first half of the fall season can be a great time to enjoy the great outdoors and all the activities and festivals that come with it. The Southern Tier of New York State and Northeast Pennsylvania is full of autumn outdoor happenings.

The corn mazes and fall products like apples, cider, donuts, and pumpkins are everywhere you look. And there are a lot of places to get your scare on as we head into the Halloween season.

Oh, don't forget about fishing. Our area is rich with lakes, streams, rivers, creeks, etc., to cast that line into the water this fall. So, grab your favorite fishing pole, tackle box, and license and enjoy more great days of fishing.

Wait. No fishing license? Well, here's something you may be happy to learn about for those of you who love to fish. In New York State, there's another Free Fishing Day coming your way.

The Broome County Parks and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced that Saturday, September 24th anyone can fish the fresh waters of New York State, and no fishing license is required. Keep in mind that all other freshwater fishing regulations still apply.

Maybe you've never dropped a line into the water. Well, September 24th could be the day you give fishing a try for the first time. You may discover why millions of people love to fish. Or if you are someone who knows how to fish, this may be a great time to teach them the joy of fishing.
