Did you get your check yet? I'm still waiting, but I bet it's in the mail soon!

Thursday, October 15, 2026, New York State released information that 3 million New Yorkers have now received energy rebate checks of up to $200. In the next few weeks, the state will send checks to about 5.2 million New Yorkers.

These Protecting Our Wallets Energy Rebate (POWER) checks will amount to $200 for joint filers with incomes under $150,000 and $150 for joint filers with incomes between $150,000 and $300,000. New Yorkers who are single filers with incomes under $150,000 will receive $100.

New York State officials noted that checks began being mailed on September 21st, continuing through December, and that 8.2 million New Yorkers will have received checks when all have been sent.

New Yorkers don't need to do anything to apply or sign up for a check. The New York State Tax Department is mailing checks to eligible New Yorkers automatically. For more information, visit the New York State Department of Tax and Finance website.

On another New York State topic, a new enrollment push has been launched, designed to assist households to save up to hundreds of dollars per year on their utility bills through the State’s Energy Affordability Program. State officials estimate that since the Governor expanded the program earlier this year, around 2.5 million more households are eligible but not enrolled.
