New York Absentee Ballot Portal Opens
New Yorkers can now directly access an absentee ballot for the upcoming November 3 election through a new portal.
Governor Andrew Cuomo September 1 launched the site just days after signing into law election reforms to make it easier for residents to vote, including allowing fear of COVID-19 as a legitimate excuse for requesting an absentee ballot.
The legislation also ensures all absentee ballots that are postmarked on or before Election Day or received by the Board of Elections without a postmark by the day after Election Day be counted. If ballots are received by November 10 with a postmark that shows they were mailed on or before Election Day also must be counted.
Residents can request a ballot through absenteeballot.elections.ny.gov or by calling their local Board of Elections.
