Each year the National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, NY chooses a list of nominees for possible induction into the hall.

Last year's inductees included, green army men, the Rubik's Cube, and bubbles.

This years nominees included, American Girl dolls, Battleship, Super Soaker water guns, Jenga , Playmobil figures, Wiffle ball, Twister, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the spinning top, coloring books, the scooter, and puppets.

And the envelope please, the 2015 Toy Hall of Fame Inductees are the simple, ancient puppet the fun ans once-controversial Twister; and raucous, splashy Super Soaker.

We had so many great toys growing up, many of which have been inducted already, like the common kite, the view master, tinker toys, and tonka trucks. So many of the classics have been recognized for their contributions to billions of children through the years.

Think about how many people have thrown put on a puppet, played Twister with a group of friends, and attacked your siblings with the super soaker in the backyard.

Much like songs we hear on the radio, that take us back to past moments in our lives.

Many of these toys have memories connected to them, moments that take us back to past days.

I remember playing checkers with my grandma, coloring with my mom, and riding bikes with my friends (complete with the baseball card in the spokes).

When I was around 10, my dad got me a Major Matt Mason Space Station and the land crawler. I played with that thing for hours!

Another one of my favorite toys growing up was those car dashboard toys that had a steering wheel, turn signals, a horn, and all the controls like speedometer and such.

There are so many great toy moments, but I'll save some for another blog.

The National Toy Hall of Fame is in Rochester, so it's a day trip for most of us. I know that I'm planning on going sometime in the near future. How about you?
