NASCAR Suspends Kurt Busch Indefinitely

According to NASCAR.com, Kurt Busch, Sprint Cup driver for the Stewart-Haas team, has been suspended indefinitely after a Delaware court issued a protection from abuse order against him.

The judge in the case that alleged Busch abused his former girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll, came to the decision that her telling of events was more credible than Busch's. The court also ordered a psychological evaluation or the troubled driver.

Busch was accused of slamming Driscoll's head into the wall of his motor coach last fall while in Delaware to compete in a race.

NASCAR'S statement was brief:

"Given the serious nature of the findings and conclusions made by the Commissioner of the Family Court of the State of Delaware, NASCAR has indefinitely suspended driver Kurt Busch, effective immediately. He will not be allowed to race nor participate in any NASCAR activities until further notice.

"Kurt Busch and his Stewart-Haas Racing team are fully aware of our position and why this decision was made. We will continue to respect the process and timetable of the authorities involved."

The Sprint Cup Series kicks off Sunday with the Daytona 500.
