My Memories Of The Beatles on The 50th Anniversary of the Invasion

When I was 5 years old my mother bought me one of those toy Beatles guitars with the plastic strings and I would hear the songs on the radio and see images on television. I remember the Beatles cartoons that were on Saturday mornings. I remember years later when I actually started playing guitar that the opening theme song started with the notes of the open six strings on the guitar E-A-D-G-B-E.

I knew the songs but never had any albums until I was about 12, the first was Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, then Rubber Soul, what a difference in texture between the two.

I never realized how unique the Beatles arrangements, chord structures and instrument voicing were until I started playing guitar at 14. Much of the earlier arrangements were in big part to their producer George Martin.

Sunday Night millions of people around the world saw Paul McCartney and Ringo Star along with a host of music stars performed on stage during a 50th Anniversary special that was taped the night before the Grammy s last month

History or more appropriate the Legacy of the Beatles with remain as big of part of  musical history as Mozart or Beethoven. Years from now on whatever form of musical player technology is around, people will be listening to The White album, Abbey Road, Meet the Beatles etc.
