Friday night (Feb. 26) saw Los Angeles radio personality Mark Thompson (aka "Mark in the Morning") throw an anniversary concert at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, Calif. The evening featured a pickup band that included Michael Anthony, who played bass and sang backup on a few Van Halen songs with Warrant lead singer Robert Mason.

You can watch them play "Panama" above, with "I'm the One" and Van Halen's arrangement of the Kinks' "You Really Got Me" below. Also included on the bill were Robby Krieger of the Doors, Richard Page of Mr. Mister, John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting and actor Kevin Pollack.

Six weeks ago, Anthony shot down questions that he and/or Sammy Hagar were rejoining Van Halen. The rumor started as a result of a photo shoot that showed that some of his road cases still had "Van Halen" painted on them and was coupled with the knowledge that Wolfgang Van Halen has had a solo album in the works for a while.

Meanwhile, a new David Lee Roth song appeared on the most recent episode of his online series, The Roth Show. On one level, "Ain't No Christmas" could be taken as a farewell to Van Halen after having reunited with them in 2007. However, Roth issued a denial that the lyrics had anything to do with Van Halen.

But Hagar sounded open to the idea of a reunion of the "Van Hagar" era. Even though he hasn't spoke to Eddie Van Halen since the end of their ill-fated 2004 tour, he tweeted a birthday message to him last month and said, "We’ll see what happens when it happens — if it happens” when discussing the possibility of the two factions coming back together nearly three weeks ago.
